Release!

The day has finally come!  The fourth installment of Ascent to Prime, The Court of the Tyrant at Tour Toriel, is complete and ready for download.  I had hoped to get this done by the end of last summer, but life intervened.

Pro tip: do not transition in the middle of an ambitious pub plan.

The Court is a major divergence and development in the Ascent to Prime series, because we're trading in attributes for values, adding relationships, switching from milestones to growth dice, and running the game off a reveals list.  This mirrors the vibe of the game shifting from epic violence to epic intrigue—a tasty new variation in this guided tour of Cortex possibilities.

The events of this adventure also make the unfolding story a lot murkier in terms of good guys and bad guys, and if you've been following me for any length of time, you know I've been waiting to drop this Other Shoe for a long time.  Stunning plot reveals!  Questioning motives! Discovering deep characterization through challenging story.  This is the stuff that I live for!  I hope you dig it, too.

Looking forward, I have the next and final installment of the campaign already sketched out.  I've got a plan that I'm really excited about: a suitably epic cap to the campaign.  But first I'm going to take a little break and refresh the creative batteries doing something else.  Expect Keystone Emporium, the second toolbox supplement, out in the coming months, as well as a sekrit project that I'm working on with a handful of the Usual Suspects of Cortex.
